My handmade Owl charm in Copper was created using a traditional wax seal. The edges are organic and rustic looking, adding to the overall ancient feel of this chunky charm. I've added my spiral texture to the back of this pendant bringing interest there as well.
The owl is traditionally seen as a symbol for wisdom. Owls live within the darkness, which includes magic, mystery, and ancient knowledge. Because they are also associated with the night, owls are typically seen to be connected with the moon, a symbol of the feminine and fertility, with the moon's cycles of renewal.
The word “cailleach” in the Scottish-Gaelic means old woman, Owl in Gaelic is “cauileach-oidhche” , believe it or not it means “night-cockerel” or “white old woman of the night.” Because the owl was most often associated with the Crone aspect of the Celtic Hag Goddess “Cailleach”. The owl is often a guide to and through the Underworld, a creature of keen sight in darkness, and a silent and swift hunter. Celtic folklore says the wise owl can give you wisdom by helping unmask those who would deceive you or take advantage of you

The charm itself is just under 1 inch in diameter and hangs at 2 1/4 inches from the wire bail. Sparkly beads of Czech glass shimmer like the night sky and complement this earthy piece so beautifully.

Copper and Bronze jewelry, including pieces with colorful patina, should not be exposed to water. Please do not shower or swim while wearing jewelry as it can drastically change the patina on the metal. All copper and bronze jewelry is treated with a protective spray lacquer to help maintain the appearance of the metal. Normal daily wear can break down the protective barrier in extreme heat and sweat.
Silver jewelry is NOT treated with a protective lacquer. Please use a soft polishing cloth to buff and bring the shine to silver. Do not use harsh chemicals as it will drastically change the patina on the metal.
